- The Interstate Aviation Committee’s approval opens the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) business aviation market to the very fast turboprop
Tarbes, France, May 9, 2012 –DAHER-SOCATA today announced the certification of its TBM 850 very fast turboprop aircraft family in the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), including Russia.
“This milestone recognizes the quality of our aircraft and the work of DAHER-SOCATA’s team in conjunction with the CIS aviation authorities – who are known to be demanding in their certification process, especially for operations in extreme weather conditions,” explained Nicolas Chabbert, DAHER-SOCATA’s Senior Vice President - Airplane Division.
He said the certification will lead to DAHER-SOCATA’s increased focus in the CIS, where business aviation markets are going beyond stability to a situation of growth.
“We anticipate a CIS market demand for the new TBM 850,” stated Victor Kuklyaev, General Director of Infinity Aviation, which is the authorized TBM sales representative in Russia. “The 2012 model TBM 850 Elite is especially well-suited to Russia’s business transportation requirements, offering fast cruise speeds, excellent range, low operating costs and cabin flexibility."
With its unique cost/performance ratio, the TBM 850 provides the type of aircraft that Russian companies are seeking for their personal transportation needs”, Kuklyaev added.
The TBM 850 is the world’s fastest single-engine turboprop, with a maximum cruise speed of 320 KTAS at 26,000 ft. (in ISA conditions). As an 850-shp. version of DAHERSOCATA’s proven six-seat TBM 700 turboprop business aircraft, the TBM 850 combines cruise speeds and travel times typical of light jets with the economical direct operating costs of a turboprop, along with excellent range and payload capacity.
Since its 2005 launch, the TBM 850 has become an international success – with more 266 aircraft delivered as of April 30 2012. The combined TBM 700 and TBM 850 fleet now stands at 590 units worldwide.
