Cannes, France, June 4, 2010 – The 2010 Eur-Avia Cannes International General
Aviation Exhibition is the venue for DAHER-SOCATA’s debut of its TB20 Trinidad GT
single-engine general aviation aircraft retrofitted with a Garmin G500 avionics suite.
DAHER-SOCATA’s G500-equipped TB20 Trinidad GT is introduced at the Eur-Avai Cannes air show
- The recently-certified TB-Series G500 avionics retrofit is exhibited for the first time, joining DAHER-SOCATA’s TBM 850 at southern Europe’s leading general aviation exhibition
The retrofit received its European Supplemental Type Certification (STC) in April,
providing a modern “glass cockpit” configuration for this category of aircraft. The G500
avionics suite is an affordable way for aircraft owners to transform their existing “six-
pack” avionics panel to a full “glass cockpit” dual-screen display configuration.
It features a 6.5-inch primary flight display (PFD) and multifunction display (MFD), along
with an attitude/heading reference system (AHRS). G500 customers also can install a
tailored version of Garmin’s Synthetic Vision Technology (SVTTM) software and
Chartview as an option, along with the new Garmin GAD 43 autopilot offered for the
avionics upgrade.
"More than 2,000 TB ‘Caribbean line’ aircraft were manufactured, and DAHER-SOCATA is committed to offering support and services such as this avionics retrofit for our customers to keep their aircraft flying over the long term,” explained Nicolas Chabbert, Senior Vice President of DAHER-SOCATA Airplane Division.
“At this year’s Eur-Avia event, we’re proud to be able to highlight the work of our avionics team on the TB Trinidad GT series retrofit solution, which provides all the advantages of Garmin’s modern G500 glass panel display. We expect this will give a new life to our family of single-engine piston aircraft, while demonstrating DAHER-SOCATA skills in avionics modernization."
Also exhibited at the 2010 Eur-Avia show is a DAHER-SOCATA TBM 850 very fast
turboprop, which is equipped with a Garmin G1000 “glass cockpit” as well, providing a
modern integrated flight deck, enhanced situational awareness and reduced pilot
workload.
The Eur-Avia show – being held June 4-6 at Cannes-Mandelieu International Airport – is
France’s only major general aviation exhibition. It draws visitors from around the world,
and brings together the main players in Europe’s general aviation sector, including
manufacturers, associations and aviation authorities.
