Owners can spend the day fishing, golfing, shooting or relaxing at the spa in-between the many flying workshops that the convention offers.

Tarbes, France, August 31, 2010 – Stéphane Mayer has joined DAHER-SOCATA as its Chief Executive Officer, bringing an experienced industry executive into the management team responsible for further developing DAHER's Aerospace sector activity – including investments and future projects with the company's General Aviation Division.

In his new functions, the 47-year-old Mayer will be working directly with François Lépinoy, the Chairman of DAHER-SOCATA.

Mayer also becomes a member of DAHER's Executive Committee.

Mayer has direct expertise with DAHER-SOCATA having been the Chairman and CEO of EADS SOCATA from 2003 to 2007, which was prior to DAHER's acquisition of this EADS company in 2008.

Before assuming his new responsibilities at DAHER-SOCATA, Mayer was CEO of ATR, the European manufacturer of regional turboprop airliners.

His other industry experience included assignments with the Lagardère group, where he was the Senior Vice President of Spare Parts and CFO at Matra Automobile, later becoming a member of its supervisory board.

Mayer graduated from France's Ecole Polytechnique engineering school in 1984, and has further qualifications from ENSAE (Ecole Nationale de la Statistique et de l'Administration Economique) and Institut d'Etudes Politiques de Paris. He started out his career in external auditing. Mayer is a pilot whose airplane ratings include DAHER-SOCATA's TBM very fast turboprop aircraft.

TBM 850 at 2010 Monaco Yacht Show

Tarbes, France, August 30, 2010 – DAHER-SOCATA will participate again this year at the Monaco Yacht Show – being held September 22-25 in the Principality of Monaco – to underscore the speed, range and operating efficiency of its TBM 850 Very Fast Turboprop aircraft.

The Monaco event brings together more than 500 companies in the luxury yachting sector and from complimentary areas, including business aircraft manufacturers such as DAHER-SOCATA. Nearly 30,000 participants travel from every continent to the Principality to attend this show.

“Private aircraft represent a complimentary transportation tool for the yachting world,” said Nicolas Chabbert, DAHER-SOCATA's Senior Vice President – Airplane Division.

“Our TBM 850 is perfectly tailored to this mission with its performance and its flexibility. It helps to quickly move yacht owners and guest passengers to their port of registry or to their business destination.”

The TBM 850 is world's fastest single turboprop aircraft, with a maximum cruising speed of 320 KTAS at Flight Level 260 (in ISA conditions). It combines the cruising speed and trip times of a light jet with the economic direct operating costs, range and eco-friendly environmental signature of a turboprop engine. The TBM 850's maximum range and useful load – which are enhanced on the current 2010 model-year aircraft – and the ability to land at small airports are some of its customers' favorite features.

The TBM Multi-Mission Aircraft's ISR version is certified by EASA

The intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (ISR) application of the TBM very fast turboprop is now ready to be marketed by DAHER-SOCATA.


TBM Multi-Mission Aircraft

Tarbes, France, 30 August 2010 – DAHER-SOCATA today announced that the Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) version of its multi-mission TBM very fast turboprop aircraft has received a Major Change Approval (MCA) from the European Aviation Safety Authority (EASA).

This MCA is applicable to all TBM 700 and 850 models, and will enable DAHER-SOCATA to present the ISR version of its TBM-MMA demonstrator to potential customers – which include governmental organizations, military services, civilian agencies and contract operators.

DAHER-SOCATA's TBM-MMA demonstrator is a TBM 700B that has been outfitted for its multi-mission aircraft (MMA) role with the Thales AGILE 2 gyro-stabilized multi-sensor turret. Located under the aircraft's aft fuselage, this electrically-driven turret is fully-retractable, and accommodates up to four latest-generation sensors – including infrared and electro-optical systems, along with a laser rangefinder and a laser designator to mark targets.

"The EASA's Major Change Approval is the result of a multi-year development program, which has evolved a highly affordable airborne intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance platform for both security and governmental operators,” said Nicolas Chabbert, Senior Vice-President of the DAHER-SOCATA Airplane Division. “It brings together the proven Thales Agile 2 multi-sensor system – which already is in operation on several airborne and naval platforms worldwide, with the TBM very fast turboprop – a proven aircraft which has logged more than 780,000 flight hours in a global fleet of some 523 TBM 850s and TBM 700s. In addition to the TBM's demonstrated performance, it has an excellence maintenance record, especially in service with the French armed forces.”

Control of the TBM MMA's retractable turret is performed from a “plug-and-play” operator's console inside the cabin. A joystick is provided for the operator, and the console is configured to display imagery from the turret, as well as handle signal processing. A long-duration digital recording function also is available.

The console is designed for installation on all TBM models, enabling both the TBM 700 and TBM 850 to perform observation, detection and data-gathering missions. Easily installed on existing cabin floor hard points, this console replaces the TBM's existing right intermediate seat. The installation weight is approximately 290 lbs. (131 kg.), enabling an equipped TBM 850 MMA to carry a full fuel payload of 730 lbs. (330 kg.). With a removal time of 30 minutes, the TBM MMA can be quickly reconfigured to a passenger transport configuration.

DAHER-SOCATA TBM aircraft are available through the company's existing direct sales and distribution network, and are supported by its extensive worldwide network of service centers. The latest TBM 850 version, launched in 2005, has become an international success – with more than 220 aircraft sold, and 199 delivered to date to customers around the world.

As the world's fastest single engine turboprop, the TBM 850 has a maximum cruise speed of 320 KTAS at 26,000 ft. (in ISA conditions). The TBM 850 is an 850-shp version of SOCATA's proven six-seat TBM 700 turboprop business aircraft, and it combines the cruising speed and travel times typical of light jets with economical direct operating costs, while offering the range and excellent payload capacity of turboprop aircraft.

Countdown to DAHER-SOCATA 100th anniversary

Oshkosh, Wisconsin, USA, July 27, 2010 – A symbolic clock marking the countdown for next year's 100th anniversary celebration of Aeroplanes Morane-Saulnier – the predecessor of DAHER-SOCATA – was formally started at the EAA AirVenture fly-in today.

The countdown kick-off was initiated by Patrick Daher, CEO of the DAHER Group, and Nicolas Chabbert, president of SOCATA North America, during a press conference at EAA AirVenture in Oshkosh.

Aeroplanes Morane-Saulnier was created in 1911 by two French pioneer aviators and brothers, Leon and Robert Morane, with engineer Raymond Saulnier. During its operation, the company and its aircraft were responsible for numerous aviation milestones, including: winning the first World Air Race in 1911; performing the first Mediterranean aerial crossing in 1913; developing the first four-seat business jet in 1954; and producing and the TBM 700 – the first pressurized civilian single turboprop aircraft, which was certified in 1990.

Through its 99 years of existence, the company continuously built airplanes reputed for their high quality of manufacturing and high maneuverability. This legacy has been continued by DAHER-SOCATA with its latest production aircraft, the TBM 850 very fast turboprop.

To celebrate the 100th anniversary, DAHER-SOCATA will introduce a special anniversary edition of its TBM 850, and is to hold a 100th Anniversary Fly-In event as part of the EAA AirVenture gathering in 2011.

"This celebration of aviation excellence will highlight the prestigious roots of our aircraft manufacturing activity, and underscore our company's confidence in the business aviation market – despite today's difficult economic times," Patrick Daher stated. "We are committed to the further development of our TBM 850, which is true asset for the DAHER Group, and we look forward new aircraft projects in the near future."

Nicolas Chabbert, the president of SOCATA North America, said today's anniversary countdown start-up is a symbol of DAHER-SOCATA's continuous dedication to customer satisfaction through 99 years of history, from the early Morane-Saulnier monoplanes to the current TBM 850.

EAA 2010 Young Eagles

Oshkosh, Wisconsin, USA, July 27, 2010 – At a 2010 AirVenture news conference today, winners of the EAA/DAHER-SOCATA 2010 "Young Eagles" International Scholarships were introduced: Kylie Fencil of Wisconsin Rapids, Wisconsin; and Cory Ravetto of Kalispell, Montana.

Fencil is a second-year student at Fox Valley Technical College in Appleton, Wisconsin. She described being selected for the DAHER-SOCATA summer internship in France as a dream come true. During her six-week internship, Fencil was tasked with cabin interior improvements, as well as organizing the paint scheme contest for the 100th DAHER-SOCATA Anniversary Special Edition of the TBM 850. She currently is studying interior design at Fox Valley Technical College, with an emphasis on commercial design.

"The internship boosted my motivation to pursue an aircraft interior designer career, and I thank DAHER-SOCATA for giving me the tremendous opportunity of moving closer to attaining my ambition," Fencil said.

Ravetto, a sophomore at Embry Riddle Aeronautical University's Prescott campus in Arizona, is an aerospace engineering major. During his DAHER-SOCATA internship, he was in charge of battery technology research for potential use on future TBM 850s and in other aircraft applications.

"Although my ultimate goal is to work in space systems industry, I enjoyed every bit of this internship as it provided me hands-on experience with a different cultural environment," Ravetto stated.

Nicolas Chabbert, the president of SOCATA North America, said 2010 was the fourth year that DAHER-SOCATA has provided American students with hands-on experience in the European aviation industry environment. “For us, this experience has proven highly successful, as it allows our company to further develop the multi-cultural engineering teams that benefit our worldwide customers,” he added. “This is why we will continue the program again in 2011.”

Morane Saulnier 100th Anniversary

At the dawn of its first century of aircraft manufacturing since its incorporation in 1911, this symbolic clock which will countdown the time remaining until next year company 100th anniversary celebration has been turned ON!

In 1911, Aeroplanes Morane-Saulnier Company, predecessor of DAHER-SOCATA, was created by pioneer aviators Morane Brothers and engineer Raymond Saulnier. Since, the company has registered numerous aviation milestones: 1911: a Morane-Saulnier airplane wins the first World Air Race. 1913: first air crossing over the Mediterranean Sea by a Morane-Saulnier H-Type 1954: launch of the “MS760 “Paris”, the first four-seat business jet . 1990: certification of the TBM 700, the first civilian pressurized single engine turboprop.

Through 99 years of existence, the company built high quality of manufacturing and great handling capabilities airplanes. This legacy was continuously maintained by DAHER-SOCATA through its productions and especially through its most recent one, the Very Fast Turboprop TBM 850.

In line with the prestigious roots of its aircraft manufacturing activity and among many other celebrations, DAHER-SOCATA will introduce early next year a Special Limited Edition of the TBM 850 and will hold a “100th Anniversary Fly-In” in Oshkosh, Wisconsin, during the 2011 EAA AirVenture.

This countdown is the symbol of a Century dedicated to customer's satisfaction, from the early Morane-Saulnier monoplanes to the current TBM 850.
